Yoli Focus: Is Fruit Juice Really Good For You?

We may need to rethink our notion of "healthy" drinks

Of all the drinks on the market, we rarely consider juices, especially the 100% fruit juices, as unhealthy.  However, recent studies show that it may be time to start looking at drinks like orange juice in a new light.  In fact, it may be that juices are just as bad for you as say soda, sports drinks, or that five dollar latte you just finished.

Here are two articles that were pass on to us in recent weeks supporting this claim.

This two page article explains that ounce per ounce, a glass of juice will have more calories than the same ammount of soda and that in terms of our nations weight problem juices should be as vilified as other sugary drinks.  Read article here.

This article, which includes a video and comments by leading health expert Dr. Joseph Mercola, is a real eye openner. From how it's processed to how it effects your isulin levels, this article details why we really need to reconsider how we look at orange juice.  Read article here.

As this topic continues to pick up steam we'll surely see arguments countering this position.  And rightfully so if we as consumers are to get a complete picture of what exactly is happening.  Hearing both sides of a story is always more condusive to making a more educated decission.  The point I think we here at Why Blast Caps want to make is that until recently, we've only had one side of that picture, a side painted by the very companies who want us purchase and consume their juices.  So, if we can bring you the other half of that picture, we gladly will.
